pattern development

As i said i wanted to try and create something that mimics the shape of a periodic table but has a slightly different twist to it and i want to show the elements interacting with one another. So i have tried out a range of different shapes and styles. By going through this process i have realised that i want to  have a shape that is slightly more organic and simple. I think the polygone shape is too complicated and looks a little too structured.
I took the cube idea and altered the corners, this is because of the idea of having the elements interacting. By having different styles means that they can show the different ways they interact with the certain elements. By having a variety it gives an aesthetic that functions and makes sense, instead of just creating a pattern.

Pattern, and different angles showing separate interaction
