I had the idea of varnishing the wood with a treated dye to give it an aged affect to try and encompass the heritage of taverns. This was a good idea at the time, however as i started to work it into the laser cut wood i soon realised that it had completely washed out all detail from the laser cutting itself.
This meant that all the detail of the identity and more importantly the type and logo soon became completely illegible. Which is a huge shame because i really like the affect and i wished it work. I think there are two solutions to this:
1. Re-cut and varnish with a natural varnish
2. Varnish the wood before and then cut it so see if the burning will work
over the top of the varnish.
So i am going to try both of these solutions and see which one works best.
